Family Court Watch Project 2008 Background Paper

In 2003 the Woman Abuse Council of Toronto (WACT) conducted a small pilot family court-watch project that placed students, volunteers, and women-survivors in the courtrooms of the Ontario Court of Justice located at 311 Jarvis St. This initial project was based on the successful Women’s Criminal Court Watch program coordinated by WACT since 1995 that monitors criminal cases in the specialized Domestic Violence
Courts.

The current family court watch initiative both builds upon, and expands the scope, of the initial study.
